This afternoon I travelled with a friend (Daniel) to Mbale and we checked on how the young girl is doing.Yes,she underwent a major brain surgery this morning to put a shunt system into her brain so that the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain is diverted from within the central nervous system (CNS) to a site outside the CNS, where it can be absorbed by the circulatory .When we got there we were told that Little Oliver was in the Intensive Care Unit and my heart skipped a little until I was told that so far her breathing has improved a great deal.
As we move to tthe ICU to see Oliver,her mom is all smiles and so thankful that the surgery was successful and she can now rest a bit since this surgery will improve her little angel's life.The mother is so excited and so strong and extremly hopeful that all will be fine.Given the condition Oliver is in,no mother would be so strong like this lady.I will say it again,no mother would be as strong as Oliver's Mom given the condition her daughter is in.
I salute you all mothers for all you do for your children as they grow up but my concern is that you need to do what you do for your children unto other children too.All children are children and need the same care and love.This world would be so much a great place if we did unto others what we would want them do unto us.It hurt me so much to Little Oliver the first time I heard about her condition.My friend Wilfred took me to Oliver's home and she was just wrapped up in clothes staying at home because her Mom had no means of taking her for a CT scan which only cost $100 to determine the next move by the doctors.What a pity that our lives are determined by where we live and who are our friends are!!!What a pity that many of us at times just ignore life threatening situations and concentrate more on luxuries!!!What a pity that we don't care for others and many times we simply leave everything to God yet we could do something!!!
Back to Oliver,I have great hope that she will improve and will take her for more surgeries for her cleft palate to be corrected.
