NEW LIFE FOR LITTLE OLIVER

I learned of her plight and took action by sharing her story with friends the world over. Many felt sorry for her and others advised me to remove her photos from my facebook because she was scary.Deep down me I knew that if we look at certain cases or situations and we keep silent about them then we have failed to play our part.I realise many of us are so much interested in those Vacation photos, why?Because they look good and we want to be there. Many intend to to click "next" whenever a "in need" photo appears. We can run away from them,we can hide from them but we can not escape. We all need each other and we should be our brothers' keepers at all times.Yes,I left her "scary" photos on my facebook and the result of it is that Little Oliver now has a new face.
Two sisters across the globe had their  birthdays recently and they decided they didn't want to recieve gifts from their friends so they asked friends to donate towards Little Oliver's Medical Fund.I was overwhelmed by this simple but life saving decision. The Bible clearly tells us to care for those in need. The two sisters didn't know about this little unfortunate girl who was born miles away from them but they took it upon themselves to change her life and YES,her life is now changed.
Little Oliver was operated upon recently and she now has a shunt in her head. This has made her head shrink a little thus bringing a smile to her mother and me too.Last week I had her checked into a rehabilitation hospital and her cleft palet and the eye were operated upon.Am glad to say that this little girl now looks to be in a better shape.Am not giving up on her until I see her enjoy life like any other child. She needs to live just like any normal child, she needs to be loved just the way we all want to be loved, she needs to be in position to play just like you and me did and above all she needs a life with dignity.Where were are born should not determine whether we survive or not.I know Little Oliver has a dream though she is just a baby,I want to see her dream come true.
Last evening I visited her in hospital and on seeing me,her mother sobbed.I aksed why she was sobbing and she just continued sobbing as she talked to me.I tried my best to calm her down but she couldn't stop sobbing.Right away my thoughts started wandering.I started imagining why she was sobbing but couldn't guess until she slowly said to me "Uncle Seggy,I feel so bad that my family has neglected me,no one has ever come to the hospital to visit me.why is this happening to me?" This hit me so hard and I was quiet for a moment.I told her that she shouldn't be moved by this,God in Heaven knows her and Oliver by name.I advised her to take heart since God was in control.
She kept wondering why I was there helping her baby improve. My answer was "This world is not our home,we are just passing through and how we pass throiugh it is what matters more".
Oliver's mother needs encoragement and prayers. If you can, please feel free to write a small encouraging note for her.It will mean a lot to her.Thats one of those little things that bring a smile on sobbing faces.
God bless you all and pray this single mother and her baby.

LITTLE OLIVER'S STRUGGLE

This afternoon I travelled with a friend (Daniel) to Mbale and we checked on how the young girl is doing.Yes,she underwent a major brain surgery this morning to put a shunt system into her brain so that the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain is diverted from within the central nervous system (CNS) to a site outside the CNS, where it can be absorbed by the circulatory .When we got there we were told that Little Oliver was in the Intensive Care Unit and my heart skipped a little until I was told that so far her breathing has improved a great deal.
As we move to tthe ICU to see Oliver, her mom is all smiles and so thankful that the surgery was successful and she can now rest a bit since this surgery will improve her little angel's life. The mother is so excited and so strong and extremly hopeful that all will be fine.Given the condition Oliver is in,no mother would be so strong like this lady.I will say it again,no mother would be as strong as Oliver's Mom given the condition her daughter is in.
I salute you all mothers for all you do for your children as they grow up but my concern is that you need to do what you do for your children unto other children too.All children are children and need the same care and love. This world would be so much a great place if we did unto others what we would want them do unto us.It hurt me so much to Little Oliver the first time I heard about her condition. My friend Wilfred took me to Oliver's home and she was just wrapped up in clothes staying at home because her Mom had no means of taking her for a CT scan which only cost $100 to determine the next move by the doctors. What a pity that our lives are determined by where we live and who are our friends are!!!What a pity that many of us at times just ignore life threatening situations and concentrate more on luxuries!!!What a pity that we don't care for others and many times we simply leave everything to God yet we could do something!!!
Back to Oliver,I have great hope that she will improve and will take her for more surgeries for her cleft palate to be corrected.
Pray for her healing, over and out.

LITTLE OLIVER'S LIFE JOURNEY: LITTLE OLIVER'S LIFE JOURNEY

LITTLE OLIVER'S LIFE JOURNEY: LITTLE OLIVER'S LIFE JOURNEY: "Saudah Nalweyiso was happy to learn that she was expecting a baby in a couple of months and she was excited just like any other mother-to-be..."

LITTLE OLIVER'S LIFE JOURNEY

Saudah Nalweyiso was happy to learn that she was expecting a baby in a couple of months and she was excited just like any other mother-to-be would feel.In May 2010 her husband left her and never returned home.Life was never the same for her since her he was the bread winner of the family.
Time came and she gave birth to little Oliver who has Hydrocepholous,a cleft pallet and an eye problem which we don't know yet.
When I and my friend Wilfred Rugumba arrived at Saudah's house she was so happy and welcomed us into her sister's house where she is now living since she can not afford renting a house(will come back to that later).
She has has been to many places looking for help but all hasn't been easy, she went to see a doctor and she was advised to take the 3 months old Little Oliver for a CT scan which required her money and she couldn't afford it.With lots of pain she decided to return home and take each day as it comes since she lost hope.

As she narrated her story to us I felt like breaking down but had to control myself and I thank God I was able to do it.
Am 100% Ugandan and I see suffering almost everyday on the streets,in homes,on TV I mean almost everywhere but there are cases which totally move me and leave me asking myself "WHY THIS?" "WHY THAT?" I know God has the best plans for all of us since He created us in His image and I feel its upon us to make this world a better place where everyone can smile.Little Oliver needs to be shown that love and care.We are jsut humans and we can't change much but I believe we CAN make her look at life in the way you and me look at it.
Each child needs a decent life and I would like this to be realised. Can't wait to see little Oliver grow and smile and enjoy life like the kids next door.

Tommorow morning I will take her to Mbale to see a Neurosurgeon who is a specialist of kids with hydrocepolous and have CT scan done.Pray that all goes well so that Little Oliver can see light at the end of the tunnel so she can enjoy the journey of life just like YOU and ME.
