NEW LIFE FOR LITTLE OLIVER

I learned of her plight and took action by sharing her story with friends the world over. Many felt sorry for her and others advised me to remove her photos from my facebook because she was scary.Deep down me I knew that if we look at certain cases or situations and we keep silent about them then we have failed to play our part.I realise many of us are so much interested in those Vacation photos, why?Because they look good and we want to be there. Many intend to to click "next" whenever a "in need" photo appears. We can run away from them,we can hide from them but we can not escape. We all need each other and we should be our brothers' keepers at all times.Yes,I left her "scary" photos on my facebook and the result of it is that Little Oliver now has a new face.
Two sisters across the globe had their  birthdays recently and they decided they didn't want to recieve gifts from their friends so they asked friends to donate towards Little Oliver's Medical Fund.I was overwhelmed by this simple but life saving decision. The Bible clearly tells us to care for those in need. The two sisters didn't know about this little unfortunate girl who was born miles away from them but they took it upon themselves to change her life and YES,her life is now changed.
Little Oliver was operated upon recently and she now has a shunt in her head. This has made her head shrink a little thus bringing a smile to her mother and me too.Last week I had her checked into a rehabilitation hospital and her cleft palet and the eye were operated upon.Am glad to say that this little girl now looks to be in a better shape.Am not giving up on her until I see her enjoy life like any other child. She needs to live just like any normal child, she needs to be loved just the way we all want to be loved, she needs to be in position to play just like you and me did and above all she needs a life with dignity.Where were are born should not determine whether we survive or not.I know Little Oliver has a dream though she is just a baby,I want to see her dream come true.
Last evening I visited her in hospital and on seeing me,her mother sobbed.I aksed why she was sobbing and she just continued sobbing as she talked to me.I tried my best to calm her down but she couldn't stop sobbing.Right away my thoughts started wandering.I started imagining why she was sobbing but couldn't guess until she slowly said to me "Uncle Seggy,I feel so bad that my family has neglected me,no one has ever come to the hospital to visit me.why is this happening to me?" This hit me so hard and I was quiet for a moment.I told her that she shouldn't be moved by this,God in Heaven knows her and Oliver by name.I advised her to take heart since God was in control.
She kept wondering why I was there helping her baby improve. My answer was "This world is not our home,we are just passing through and how we pass throiugh it is what matters more".
Oliver's mother needs encoragement and prayers. If you can, please feel free to write a small encouraging note for her.It will mean a lot to her.Thats one of those little things that bring a smile on sobbing faces.
God bless you all and pray this single mother and her baby.
